You gave me the courage to speak out to stand up for what’s right and against my many far left friends. At least 1 has blocked me but I don’t care.

Wow, this resonates with me on every level but especially being raised in the 60’s-70’s with little emphasis on self worth. I did not realize people could bear the full brunt of who I am until my 50’s and trying to please people is exhausting. Living my truth at 62 has allowed me to stand up for what I know to be right and walk away from those who don’t have the spine (for whatever reason) to stand up to antisemitic bullies and terrorists. 🙏☮️🇮🇱

I totally agree!! I’m 70 now and outspoken. I don’t care if anyone’s offended by the truth, I tell my truth unashamedly.

Dear Kelli, I can tell you: for a while, as a student, I voluntarily visited and cared for dying people in hospices, palliative care units, and so on. In one hundred percent of all conversations, when the dying looked at their lives in rearview, the predominant or only topic was that they deeply regretted having followed their true feelings too rarely and often not at all, that they did not dare to say what they really thought - mainly out of fear of what "others" might say and because it was considered "unpopular" - and not to follow and realize what really suited them. Whether a hundred thousand people have "liked" you counts for nothing compared to someone who "likes" you for what you really think and feel. - And like all Jew-haters, they do not even think about why, or whether they themselves really feel that way - but "everyone" around them "does it". As soon as they started to be honest, they would hate themselves and try everything to overcome the "reason" for it.

Thank you for speaking up for Israel, the Jewish People, and what is right. Growing older is glorious isn't it! There comes a point in life you can't give any more F*cks. (You can also swear like an old sailor and enjoy it.)

I like being older - I'm 81 - older than the state of Israel (but not Zion). Old enough to have known people who went to jail for speaking out in South Africa and Zambia and much too afraid to do it myself. Thank you for your posts - it is very good not to be alone.

Completely agree Kelli. My "leftist friends" include my adult children, and although I have a great relationship with most of them despite political differences, I got a handwritten note of rejection yesterday from one of them.

And I am fully prepared to deal with that. I raised all my children to think for themselves, and I will support and defend their right to think foolishly.

Great post Kelli. Ayn Rand described those who live to please others, “second handers”. It is the prevalence of the morality of altruism that is the root cause. Altruism teaches that one’s duty is to be concerned with the welfare of others. It is no wonder that so many grow to have no self of their own.

The proper alternative to altruism is rational egoism as defined in Rand’s philosophy of Objectivism.

I am happy that you have found purpose and happiness, Kelli!

Great photo, you look terrific!

I love this so much. My activism has become less silent and lot more articulate since joining Substack and interacting with you—along with a lot of other wonderful people here—, and I'm grateful for that.

Not caring about being liked is such a galvanizing thing.

1. Thank you for your support. It DOES make a difference in helping me know that we are not alone in this.

2. I'm almost exactly the same age as you (a year older), and realised about 5 years ago that I "reached the age of not giving a fuck about what people think about me". It might also be related to finding a partner who in the first time in my life just adores me the way I am, kinks and all.
