There is a reason why peace agreements between Israel and the region know as Palestine have never eventuated into a real solution. Leaders and activists will tell you that its complicated — it’s not. The Palestinian’s want the right of return to Israel. Here is why that should never, will never, and can never happen.
When the partition plan was enacted, approximately 250,000 Palestinians were removed from the new Israeli territory. 75 years down the track, there would be few Palestinians still alive today that were removed from their homes. They have now, in fact, lived in the areas of Gaza and the West Bank for over 75 years.
The truth is, the United Nations made a decision in 1947 — resolution 181. The plan sought to address the claims and objectives of Palestinian nationalism and Jewish nationalism. Both Arab Palestinian and Jewish organisations were invited to collaborate during the deliberations. The Jewish organisations turned up and contributed, while the Palestinian Arab leadership boycotted it.
The assembly decided to partition Palestine into two states, one Arab and one Jewish, with Jerusalem placed under a special international regime. And that should have been the end of it.
The rest of the approximately 500,000 Palestinians that were displaced, were done so not because of the partition, but because of the The Arab-Israeli War of 1948 that broke out when five Arab nations invaded territory and attempted to annihilate Israel.
Israel called it their War of Independence, the Palestinians called it the Nakba. And it’s no wonder — it was a fucking disaster — but a disaster of their own making. The beginning of the forever war of Palestinians refusing to live side by side with Jews.
I can’t think of another single country that has initiated an attempted existential war against a sovereign nation, lost, then moaned about the consequences and demanded a right of return. The fact is, no other refugee population exists from the 1940’s. They have all moved on to build their lives.
What was on offer was an opportunity to have their own state, autonomy and a fresh start, however it was only ever utilised by the newly founded Israelis. We only have to look at images of Gaza next to Tel Aviv side by side to see how that has turned out.
Fast forward seven decades, and an untold amount of insurgencies, terrorist attacks, abductions, wars and finally the scourge on humanity that was October 7. If there ever was a claim to a right of return, the Palestinians have forfeited that claim when they have demonstrated, time and time again, that they are unwilling to compromise, or to live in peace with Israel.
And it is no longer simply the original inhabitants asserting a right of return, it is the entire population of Gaza and the West Bank, who still claim refugee status, thanks to the terrorist infiltrated UNRWA, that are under the insane belief that they can walk right back into Israel and claim a patch of dirt, that has since been transformed by the Israelis into a vibrant metropolis.
Not to mention the fact that allowing over 5 million Palestinians to settle within the territory of Israel would render Jews a minority, which would resulting in another Arab state. The Palestinians have given no indication in their past or present behaviour that this would result in anything other than a bloodbath for the Jews. Not one shred of proof that indicates it would be anything less than absolute carnage.
And why should they have that opportunity? Have they shown Israel or the world that they can elect a functioning government, or let go of genocidal islamic ideologies in favour of tolerance and peace? Have they over the years given any indication that they are willing to compromise and accept that the Jews also have a claim to their ancestral home land?
No, they haven’t. Then why should Israel risk their own destruction over a wish, a western pipe-dream?
Have the Palestinians offered any type of compromise? One single proposal that includes living in peace next to the land of Israel rather than taking it over?
There will be no peace in the region until Palestinians give up the idea of a right of return. It was over 75 years ago. It happened, it’s over. Thousands upon thousands of lives that have been lost due to the inability to accept the simple fact that Israel has a right to exist — is ludicrous. It’s time to get over it. It’s time to move on. It has achieved nothing but bloodshed. Whether it was fair, unfair, right, wrong or something in-between, is irrelevant. Many things in life are unfair. But poisoning the lives of generation after generation of people to achieve nothing is not the answer.
There are two peoples in the land, they can both have their own state, but neither can have it all. The idea that the Jews have no right to the land needs to end, permanently. Until that happens, any negotiation will be inefficacious.
The myth called the right of return has enabled Arab leaders to become very rich by posing as victims. The West fell for it and so the money flowed. It’s just one huge grift. Same for the UN. Keeping Gazans poor and angry at Israel for supposed wrongs, telling them the Zionists took what was theirs, has spawned a multi billion dollar victim industry fuelled by UNRWA. What a scam.
The West hasn’t noticed that the Two State Solution is a One Sided Dream. Neither Israel nor the Palestinians want it, only the West. The Palestinians never wanted it. The Palestinians want the Right of Return and the Destruction of Israel and they’re not compromising on either.
