I will tell you what I have noticed of late. The loud and obnoxious serial protestors that we now know all too well, never seem to have a day after plan. They have a singularity of purpose, a mono-purpose platform which cancels out any and every other issue past, present or emerging. No longer are we allowed to care about multiple things at once, they will tell you loudly, to your face exactly what you should care about, and God help you if you even twitch in disagreement.
Just as the keffiyeh cosplayers have no day after plan for Gaza, neither do the arm chair neo-Marxists who claim to want to dismantle all the structures of “hierarchy and power”, with no real plan as to how to fill the vacuum that this will inevitably create. Only people who have grown up with privilege, in an open society with abounding freedoms, who have never experienced the oppression that comes with living under an autocracy or an theocracy could possibly believe that democracy is somehow an evil that needs to be eradicated.
Western society as we know it is in peril. It’s easy to believe that the status quo of how we live is steadfast, but the freedoms that we take for granted are under attack, and the biggest threat is coming from within. The subversive idea that we are evil oppressors and need to suffer a levelling out for the betterment of the world, is not only wrong, but it is dangerous. This cancerous discontent is eating away at our stability, from the inside out, and our enemies can smell our weakness.
It is not the responsibility of us in the West to capitulate a good life to ‘even out’ the disparity between first worlds and other worlds. Just like societies and civilisations have done for millennia, it’s up to them to rise up. And while countries in the Middle East, North Africa, Russia and parts of Asia continue to bleed their own people with corrupt governance, abuse of international aid and religious ideology and doctrine, they will continue to suffer oppression.
Conversely, open societies maintain ideals of tolerance, religious freedoms, the separation of church and state and equality. When we are no longer willing to believe in or fight for the ideals that have made us great, we risk being toppled by those who want to destroy us. Those of us that have been paying attention understand that the proxies of the Islamic Regime of Iran or even Russia, would not have dared to have attacked an ally of the United States with such force unless they knew that defences were down and consequences would be minimal.
Our adversaries have planned well. They understand the enemy, and are willing to play on our weaknesses of inclusivity, open border policies and of course our apathy. They have reached the hearts of our children through funded social media targeting and academia, and their long game is playing out better than they could have hoped. Although largely ignorant of the part they are playing, the student movement of our day has made an alliance with the devil, and that deal never ends well.
We only need to look at the plight of the Iranians, who were promised a utopia when they rose up against the monarchy in 1979. Not surprising, the Iranian Revolution also began in the Universities. The Iranians were promised free electricity, cash from oil revenues, free water, justice, freedom, and a correct Islamic way of democracy. To their detriment, the Iranians took the promises of the Islamists at face value. The dire consequences of which they have had to live with for over four decades.
After the Islamic Regime took power, they quickly disposed of any contenders who would oppose their rule, and very little of what they promised every materialised. What they did get — whether they wanted it or not — was strict Islamic rule, gender apartheid and a new, more harsher version of oppression. In short they were duped.
Just like many in the West are being duped now. If queers for Palestine, Code Pink, Cynthia Nixon, Clementine Ford or any of the other lefty whack jobs think they are racking up brownie points by marching in the streets in solidarity with the terrorist ‘freedom fighters’ that they support — they are in for a rude awakening.
We are already witnessing a destabilisation and weakening of Western Power dominance in the world. A dominance that has created stability and prosperity. Nothing is perfect of course, but an open society allows for self-correction, which is why we have been able to evolve in areas of equality and non-violent resolution. And destabilisation is exactly what the enemies of democracy want.
If we are fighting amongst ourselves and self-flagellating for wrongs that were done centuries ago, we are easy pickings for a new era of colonisation. Our challengers are united in their interests to destroy the West; while we are flapping around being offended because someone called us the wrong pronoun. The Islamic Republic of Iran, Russia, the Muslim Brotherhood and the rest, understand only power and strength. They see tolerance, equality, pandering and restraint as weakness, and they will have no qualms about using violence against us.
Ironically, the worldwide phenomenon of anti-Israel and anti-Western sentiment, has emboldened the organisations and regimes that cause the most damage to the people under which they rule, which I find is one of the most frustrating truths to reconcile.
Israel is the litmus test, to see how the rest of the world reacts to the blatant unchecked brutality and violence unleashed on a friend of the West. And we have given them the green light. We have invited them in with open arms, and open borders. We have empathised with their victimhood and appropriated their oppression while chastising our western ‘evil ways’, whilst conveniently ignoring the real cause of their pain and their own lack of accountability, to prop up our own useless meaningless privileged lives.
Israel alone understands that they are at the forefront of the battle of civilisation. While we are imploding with internal division, endless bickering and useless blockades, our enemies are regrouping, arming themselves, and becoming nuclear capable.
The war has just begun.
One of my deepest observation regarding this "progressive regression" is that it is predominantly an Anglosphere phenomenon. It is played out by people who have no historical memories of a true survival struggle. People on the continent do - particularly Eastern Europeans, obviously Israelis do (as do Jews in general). The lack of such a survival mentality is a luxury, that of seeing the world as benign place instead of a dangerous one with limited resources that must be fought for.
On a psychological level the behaviour is identical to a rebelling teenager who wants to distress her parents by committing self harm like getting tattoos, taking drugs or having sex with bikies. But unlike an individual the teen rebellion brings the harm onto the whole population of the Western world.
Well written piece with a lot of depth. There us a growing awareness that this is not a single issue problem. This is a non-kinetic war on western values. The sheep need to wake up and become tigers.
